We’re part of one of the largest banks in the world. And we’re committed to opening up a world of opportunity – bringing people together from all backgrounds and cultures to work and bank with us. Whether that’s developing our next product, serving our customers, or working with others in the wider community – we champion inclusivity. By listening, removing barriers and seeking out different views we can build a better, more sustainable future.

OUR CULTURE

Global
Collaborative
Inclusive

What traditions and special events do you celebrate?

While our commitment to inclusion and diversity is celebrated year-round, we also take the opportunity to mark several cultural and pivotal events as part of the calendar year. These events not only offer a chance to celebrate the diversity of our people, they’re also an opportunity to reflect on our commitments and share updates with our colleagues, customers and the broader communities we serve. Key calendar events at HSBC UK include Black History Month, Pride Month, South Asian Heritage Month and Windrush Day.

How do colleagues get insight into what goes on in the C-Suite?

There are numerous opportunities for our colleagues to better understand the bank’s strategic priorities and connect with our senior leaders. From regular Exchanges hosted by local Team Leaders to ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions and roadshows led by our CEO, colleagues are empowered to ask questions, share good news stories, and learn more about the leadership team’s priorities in a range of ways.

What community groups do you have?

We value difference, with 17 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) bringing people together and playing a big role in driving positive change across HSBC UK. Groups in the UK include those focused on ability, age, ethnicity, faith, gender, LGBT+, and working parents and carers. Additionally, a wide range of employee communities have been formed, including those focused on flexible working, mindfulness, the military, Chinese society and culture, and Executive Assistants.

We’re committed to improving the diversity of our senior leadership and increase opportunities for our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic colleagues.

We've made some great strides towards becoming a truly inclusive organisation, but we know we aren't yet diverse enough at all levels. So we'll continue to take action, to help us innovate and grow in a sustainable way. That’s why we’re looking to double the population of HSBC’s Senior Black Leaders as at 31 December 2020 by 2025, and provide targeted development planning for those colleagues.
